I grew up in a big family in Kansas City—ten people, four bedrooms, two bathrooms. Things were often tight, and we didn’t have a lot.

But soccer became my outlet. It gave me purpose, confidence, and joy. My mom was actually my first coach. At one point, I almost gave up on the game—but then another coach took the time to believe in me, and that changed everything. That moment showed me just how powerful encouragement can be, especially for kids who might not feel like they fit in.

That’s why I’m passionate about supporting youth development through Playworks. They bring structured play and connection into schools, giving kids a safe space to move, grow, and thrive. It’s more than just fun—play teaches confidence, teamwork, and belonging. I know, because it did that for me.
